Private garden in the 16th arrondissement of Paris
The historic heart of Espace Hamelin is the Count of Montebello's townhouse, where he lived in the 19th century.
This building is the work of Charles-Louis Boileau, architect of Le Bon Marché, with its neo-Renaissance façades on the courtyard of honour and its garden populated by Indian ducks and pheasants.
To this remarkable building, which at the time stood at 11 Rue Hamelin, were added the buildings 15 and then 17 on the same street. The main entrance is now at 17 Rue de l’Amiral Hamelin.
Purchased from Princess de Cystria by the General Syndicate of Electrical Construction, it installed its offices there in 1939.
Today these buildings remain a collective living space for the professional unions of the electrical, electronic and communications industries, some of the spaces being dedicated to hosting events that can be privatized by and for all.
Blending history and modernity, our spaces reflect this dual identity.
